We are seeking a seasoned, mission-driven, and strategic HR Consultant & Pro Bono Advisor to provide high-level human capital guidance to our organization. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor, helping us build robust HR frameworks, navigate complex organizational challenges, and ensure our workforce strategies align with our long-term goals. If you possess deep expertise in organizational development, a passion for supporting non-profit or mission-based work, and the ability to translate complex HR challenges into actionable, sustainable solutions, this is an invaluable opportunity to elevate our operational maturity and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Guidance: Provide expert counsel on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent management, helping us structure our teams for maximum efficiency and mission alignment.
Policy & Compliance Auditing: Review and refine internal policies—including handbooks, conduct codes, and safety protocols—to ensure they meet current legal standards and industry best practices.
Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in our HR lifecycle (from recruitment to retention), recommending technology integrations and streamlined workflows to optimize operations.
Culture & Performance Coaching: Advise leadership on strategies for fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture, including performance feedback systems, recognition frameworks, and conflict resolution approaches.
Capacity Building: Provide guidance on scaling our HR function, helping us transition from manual or ad-hoc processes to sustainable, scalable systems that support growth.
Risk Mitigation: Consult on sensitive employee relations issues, compliance requirements, and labor law changes to proactively protect the organization from liability.
Knowledge Transfer: Mentor internal staff or leadership teams, building organizational capability and ensuring our team is equipped to manage HR functions effectively after your engagement.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field; advanced degree (MBA/MSHR) or professional certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) are highly preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership or consulting capacity. Experience in non-profit or mission-based sectors is a significant asset.
Technical Skills:
Deep expertise in employment law, organizational development, and HR technology ecosystems.
Strong aptitude for strategic planning, financial forecasting of human capital costs, and data-driven decision-making.
